Welcome to my blog!
As I write this blog post, I feel so thankful for what God has doing in my life. After few months of job hunting, I finally get the job that I want to explore and grow, I choose it because I know God prepared it for me.
If you’re first time visit my blog, let me share my story with you in simplified version. I quit my 9 years job in late of December 2020 due to many reasons. So, I’ve been jobless from 19/Feb/2021 ( which my last working day at my previous company) until 18/April/2021. I don’t really like to called it jobless but its my break. After I quit on December 2020, I started looking for a new job but I still working for previous company on January until 19 February 2021, I need to give 2 months notice. During my notice period, I already started to looking for a job, attend few interviews but don’t secure any offers. I will be lying if I said I am not worry. I am worry a lot!
But, when I think back, I quit because I want to take a break from work for awhile. So, I don’t feel so hard on myself even I didn’t secure any job, I take my time, enjoy the moment, fix my relationship with God and I know the God timing is perfect. Then, after two months break, tepat tepat dua bulan, early of April I got the job and join the company on 19 April 2021. What a journey!
To be really honest, before I secure the job, I did feel want to give up! I feel so disappointed with me, the interviews… I worried about our financial but thanks to God, I was surrounded with good and strong in faith husband and friends. That’s why I can come out with this articles because this is how I stay strong during my job hunting.
Always remember God’s word/memorise God word
After go through the job hunting for few months, I can say, if I didn’t remember God’s words/memorise His words, I don’t think I can stay strong. I did forget sometimes, so I turned to my husband and sometimes my friends, telling them I feel like I almost give up and I worried about a lot of thing especially my financial. Your husband and friends can’t help you financially but they can help to remind you that God has a plan/future for you, be patient! They will remind you about God’s words.
Here are my favorite God’s words to make me strong during job hunting,
Cast your cares on the Lord and he will sustain you;he will never let the righteous be shaken. Psalms 55:22 NIV
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in Him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Romans 15:13 NIV
I trust you to save me, Lord God and I won't be afraid. My power and my strength come from you, and you have saved me. Isaiah 12:2 CEV
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. Matthew 6:34 NIV
As a Christian, we need to do devotional consistently, no matter you do it in the morning, afternoon, evening or night, its up to you. As for me, I love to do this in the morning and late night because for me, that the most quiet time for me. My husband and baby is sleeping so I can have time with God. During my devotional time, usually what I do are,
Pray – Thankful prayer. Just say thanks to God for whatever He did for me during one day. Just being thankful and say thank you.
Worship Him – I don’t really like to sing especially in the morning, so what I usually did is listen to Christian songs. I really like one song Goodness of God- Bethel Church. Whenever I listen to this song, its hit me so hard.
Reading His words (BIble) – Reading His words is one of powerful thing to do during devotional. Every words that I read make me feel strong, make me realise I am not alone in this journey. I love to write, memorise His word so I can remember it every time I feel I am alone in this journey.
Pray – This time I pray to God and let Him know what I am worried about, what I want and I really pour my heart during this time. I just let Him know about me and by the end, I just say Thank you and just let it go to God.
Even after I got the job, I never stop my devotional. I really love this moment in my life as I talk to God and know that no matter what, He is here with me.
Pray Pray Pray
Pray is such a powerful action. Pray whenever good or bad thing happen. During my job hunting season, I take extra time to pray because I always feel anxious about what going to happen and worried a lot. Whenever I feel worry or feel uneasy, I will always pray. Instead of rant about how hard is life on social media, I just run to God and pray.
Even if you’re not looking for a job, always pray. Pray is such a powerful action you do in your life. Never ever forget to pray.
At the end of the journey, you will get the job and at the same time, your faith in God also strengthen. Don’t worry too much about the wrong thing could happen but think about what the right thing could happen.
Looking back now, I am happy I decided to quit from my previous job and take a risk. I got the new job and my faith and relationship with God also strengthen. I gained two things at the same time. This job hunting really need to be strong spiritually and mentally.
Don’t give up k! God has future for you! You can do this!!
I hope this article inspired you in your life.
